The Vofire method for multi-component flows on unstructured meshes

Abstract A new numerical method for the approximation of transport equations in any dimension on general meshes is here described. The algorithm relies on a reconstruction of the unknown in each cell, where the recontructed function varies only in the directions orthogonal to the velocity. This allows to elaborate a non-dissipative and stable scheme for the transport of characteristic functions. It is then incorporated in a Lagrangian scheme with remeshing for the computation of multi-component compressible flows.

In this study, for the first time, a comparison of single-relaxation-time, multi-relaxation-time and entropic lattice Boltzmann methods on non-uniform meshes is performed and application of these methods for simulation of two-dimensional cavity flows, channel flows and channel flows with sudden expansion is studied in the slip and near transition regimes. In this work, Taylor series expansion a...

In this paper we propose a new high order accurate centered path-conservative method on unstructured triangular and tetrahedral meshes for the solution of multidimensional non-conservative hyperbolic systems, as they typically arise in the context of compressible multi-phase flows. Our path-conservative centered scheme is an extension of the centered method recently proposed in [36] for conserv...
